Why Scripture Cards?

Why Scripture Cards?

I often think about how we are called to encourage one another daily. A fun and easy way to encourage someone is by sending a card. Who doesn’t love opening the mailbox and finding a surprise inside!

So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it.
— 1 Thessalonians 5:11 MSG

I started out in the art world with Bible art journaling. I found part of what I was drawn to was the meditation on a verse or passage, that led to an image or idea to paint on those thin pages of the bible. I absolutely love to do this as a form of meditation and worship.

But it is limited in that not many people ever see the art in there. It isn’t sharable (apart from photocopies and social media). With the scripture cards the art has become something that can be given away and become an encouragement to whoever receives it.

The Purpose of Scripture Cards

Besides the shear fun and easy flow of making these cards, there are several purposes they can serve.

The biggest purpose is to encourage others (or yourself!) by sending them as gifts.

The cards could remain a card, or since they are original art, they card could be put in a 5x7 frame to be an encouragement at any time to whoever is in view!

Another idea, one that I have been thinking a lot about doing, is to stack them and bind them together to make a journal. Then you can write on the insides and backs of the cards like a regular devotional journal or prayer journal. If you add the included envelopes into the journal, you will have pockets built in to add fun treasures, quotes, bookmarks, pictures, etc!

What will you do with your Scripture Cards?

A Couple Scriptures About Encouragement

So watch your step, friends. Make sure there’s no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. For as long as God’s still calling it Today, keep each other on your toes so sin doesn’t slow down your reflexes. If we can only keep our grip on the sure thing we started out with, we’re in this with Christ for the long haul
— Hebrews 3:13 MSG
So then, make it your top priority to live a life of peace with harmony in your relationships, eagerly seeking to strengthen and encourage one another.
— Romans 14:19 TPT
